These directions are specifically for drivers of coaches arriving from London or Medway via the M2/A2 or from Thanet via the A256.
On several routes on this site drivers are instructed to turn right at the traffic lights at Crabble. This turning is too tight for coaches and the following directions should be followed instead:-
Continue through Crabble lights and down the hill. Continue straight ahead at the next set of lights at Buckland. You are now entering the one-way system.
As you approach the next set of lights you will need to turn right into Cherry Tree Avenue at these lights, and it may be worth straddling both lanes to negotiate the island.
Continue down Cherry Tree Avenue to the traffic lights and turn right. You now rejoin the one-way system. Immediately in front of you is another set of traffic lights where two lanes go straight ahead and the left-most lane is a filter lane for Coombe Valley Road. Keep to the centre lane (which becomes the left-hand lane after the lights. Continue on London Road to Buckland.
A major landmark can be found at Buckland Bridge where the road bears right then left with pedestrian crossings and the facade of the old Buckland Paper Mill in front of you and The Bull public house on your right. Keep to the left hand side of the road. You are now leaving the one-way system.
Proceed up the hill towards River. You will pass under a railway bridge with a set of traffic lights ahead of you. At the lights keep to the left and bear left.
Proceed down the hill, under the railway bridge. Take the 2nd turning on the right into Lower Road - there is a sign pointing to the Mill at this junction.
About 300 metres along this road you will find the Mill on the right where your passengers can alight.
Parking for coaches here is not advisable as the road is narrow and it is recommended to park on Lewisham Road - which is the road on the opposite side of River Recreation Ground.
Continue along Lower Road and bear left at the next junction. At the crossroads turn left onto Lewisham Road and continue on to the recreation ground (on your left). There is a local bus stop here too but there is usually adequate space before it for parking.
Passengers can board here, they should be able to see your coach from the Mill anyway, or you can continue around the block, taking the 2nd turning on your left back into Lower Road to allow them to board outside the Mill.
Coach drivers who are able to secure their vehicles may wish to come to the Mill where the staff will be pleased to provide them refreshments while they wait for their passengers.
